ABBA & Sushi – That’s Just Wrong!
I was having lunch at one of my regular sushi places, Inoko’s Sushi Express, the other day and it just didn’t feel right. After a few moments of contemplation and self analysis I figured out why. Now, most Japanese restaurants, including sushi bars have Japanese music playing in the background, whether traditional or current. However, as I was mangling my sake with my chopsticks I was hearing Abba in the background. Somehow, Take a Chance on Me playing while dipping raw fish into a soy and wasabe mixture just makes you think twice. Is it the salmon singing the lead and the maki the background, or vice versa.
Don’t get me wrong, I have never gotten sick from sushi, and the stuff I had did not smell bad at all. At least none of it had eyes.
But, I do think it is strange, I have never heard this played at a sushi bar, not even in Japan, or San Francisco.
